How to Pass Time: A Beginner’s Guide.
Have you ever found yourself so bored out of your mind to the point where you waste any time you didn't want to spend just by staring at the clock ticking away? I can certainly say that I have done this before. But what if I told you that there were a few ways to get rid of that “dead time”? Well, that’s what this blogpost is here for! Without further ado, let’s dive into the art of passing time with tips from me and a few friends of mine.
Idea 1: Play a game.
One of the probably best options for bored minds. There are a few you can do without a handheld device or game console, like seeing how high you can count, or making anagrams (those are words you can make from scrambling the letters of other words). If you do have a device able to play games, you could play some puzzle games on them. I see people all the time doing stuff on their phones in class so why not just join in on the fun?
Idea 2: Take a nap.
You don’t have to be tired to have a nap! Daydreaming is a great way to entertain yourself and pass the time. Perhaps try learning to lucid dream, so you could even dream about flying, fighting a fire-breathing dragon, or kissing your crush that sits across the room from you that you are too shy to go over and talk to (speaking of which, you really should).
Idea 3: Learn to draw.
Suggested by a friend. Drawing is a form of artistic expression, so why not learn to express yourself? Learn art to show how bored you are! Hey, did you know that you can actually make money from commissions? So, if you get bored, use it to your benefit! Profit from it! Make lemonade out of lemons! Speaking of...
Idea 4: Take up baking, cooking, or just making food in general!
I think we all have eaten foods just for the sake of curing boredom. Making food and preparing meals is a entertaining thing to try if you are bored or have a hungry stomach. Just remember, it doesn’t have to be *edible* at first, it’s all about trying what works until you get something good enough.
Idea 5: Read a book, or better yet, write one!
You ever just have a weird idea and think to yourself,
“Man, I could REALLY write about this one.”
Why not do that? And while you’re at it, consider reading a few other books for inspiration. I personally recommend comic books, graphic novels, or manga (if you’re into that sort of thing). Just please don’t plagiarize them.
Idea 6: Listen to music or watch videos
Music is a powerful thing. Did you know that listening to music helps to improve mood, at least as long as you don’t listen to those really sad songs. I tend to write my own music, but when I do listen to music, its usually of video game soundtracks, Listen to songs you really like, or maybe even expand your musical tastes and listen to something new. When it comes to videos though, it’s like listening to music, with way more genres. Perhaps, you’re a ‘funny fails compilation’ sort of person, or perhaps you enjoy a few ‘cat videos’, or maybe you like those channels that talk about drama, or video games, or video game drama.
Either way, theres a lot of content out there to take some time out of your day for.
Idea 7: All of the above
If, for some reason, you’re that bored, try all of them! Maybe some more! I don’t know! Maybe you like doing multiple things at once! That’s fine! Do that!
Idea 8: If all else fails... simply don’t be bored!
